Our vision is to honor God by collecting funds to distribute aid to people in need. This includes, but is not limited to, helping people rebuild their homes that have been destroyed by natural causes and helping the widowed, orphaned, poor and those who are hungry, homeless, and in need of clothing.
ABOUT US
Coming Alongside: A Community Relief (CACRelief) is a volunteer-based not-for-profit corporation that focusses on raising funds for helping people rebuild their homes and lives after experiencing a disaster, such as flooding, fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, or earthquakes, or because of constant hardship over time producing a situation of great need. Currently those facing the hardest times are the elderly, so our focus includes helping those no longer able to effectively maintain their homes.
We believe that God calls His people to fulfill the mission Jesus set forth when He commanded the disciples to feed the poor and take care of the widows and orphans.
Our aim is to help those in need through direct service, fundraising and coordination of relief efforts (e.g. community volunteers, negotiation with local suppliers, etc.). CACRelief works with local community agencies to determine the needs of the community and identify persons in need.
OUR STORY
In 2012, a local family was struggling to complete a home renovation project. A group of community members learned of their struggle and came together to complete the project in one day. Within a few months, some of those same community members went to Schoharie County, NY to help repair homes that had been damaged during Hurricane Irene. They were struck by the great need that remained after the first wave of assistance, and began to plan a way to get involved.
Efforts started with simple drives for necessary supplies. Years later we are still focused on helping those in need and our focus has expanded. In addition to raising funds, we have branched out into helping through volunteer organization and coordinating acquisition of supplies. We want to provide relief in ways that is needed, so our mission is simple: providing relief for areas of disaster based upon the needs of the community.
